Psalm 134

The Word Made Fresh

(A song of ascent.)

1Come and praise the LORD, you who serve the LORD,
standing all night in the LORD’s house.
2Raise your hands in the sacred place
and praise the LORD.
3May the LORD who made heaven and earth
bless you from Zion.

Commentary

Superscription: the 15th and last of the “songs of ascent.”

1-3: A fitting end to this little collection of processional psalms for pilgrims to Jerusalem. The first of them (Psalm 120) cries to God for deliverance; the last of them offers God’s blessing.

Takeaway

We praise the LORD in the way we live, in the decisions we make, and in the way we treat others as well as in our worship. To praise means to honor. How have you honored the LORD today?
